Goldfish incompetence

My CSMA credit card was taken over by goldfish sept 2007, the last payment I made to CSMA continues to show on my account.
I have phoned both companies many times, csma confirmed receipt of my payment last year and couldnt say when it would be transferred to balance up my account to zero with goldfish.
I stopped using my card this year after I have paid up for all my usages but the sept amount keeps gaining interest and late payment fees on monthly bills they send.

I've written to goldfish explaining that I owe nothing and that I expect a zero balance statement within 28days or I will be taking this up with the financial ombudsman and am awaiting a reply. They phone my house 4/5 times a day for payment but I am unable to pass their security checks so they will not discuss anything with me and have now written and threatened to damage my credit rating.

Is there anyone in/has been in a similar position and is there any other way to resolve this ?
many thanks
