0% is less than 25%, and that sounds pretty different to me. Is there a typo in here somewhere?

Not sure what you mean with respect to the 0%.

Actually i am keeping my 30K in my ING(KE) FTD untill it matures in 11 months time, I disagree that Gordon would not protect us if the dutch refused to honour the compensation we are now in ING UK and Gordon has prooved he will protect the british depositer, the president has been set.
  • - What are the pros and cons of keeping money in KE now that it is under the control of ING?

If I am not mistaken the 1m. existing ING Direct customers in the UK are protected under the UK scheme, but K. Edge accounts taken over by ING will be covered by the Dutch scheme. The question of why this difference and who was behind it being this way unsettles me greatly.

Pretty sure that that's incorrect and that all of their a/cs are covered by the Netherlands scheme.

There is no difference, ALL depositors are covered by the Dutch scheme, ING Direct (UK) 223156 - ING Direct (UK) N.V. http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/firmBasicDetails.do?sid=96226 is no longer authorised by the FSA - 229688 - ING Direct N.V. is EEA Authorised http://www.fsa.gov.uk/register/firmBasicDetails.do?sid=102663

ING directs website is quite clear. UK depositors are covered under the dutch scheme. I dont trust anyone but it trust UK law and protection more as its where i live. I've pulled all my £££ out of ING. Its such a large amount that I suspect it will trigger a run on the bank..;)

I had a substantial fixed term deposit with Kaupthing Edge which has now been smoothly transfered into the care of ING, it matures in 11 months. In view of the collapse of the Icelandic banks I am just relieved that my investment has been so quickly rescued. The icing on the cake is that it is now with a relatively far more secure bank who, at this time, appear to be paying me the same high 7.15% interest rate as KE. I am going to leave it where it is and hopefully collect next September.
