I have two cards one with mbna already but i'd like to shift debt from my other card to virgin but we shall see.

let us know how you get on if thats ok and i'll do the same although i won't be able to phone till friday though.
  • I got a new card a few months back from Virgin, but do not remember getting this sort of communication, sorry

I have a query myself if anyone could help

I tried to do a balance transfer from my virgin card to my Nat West advantage gold account for £240, which would keep me well within my limit. and I have done it before for much much more, but today I am told by the call centre at Virgin that I cannot do it to a current account, but before they did it with my overdraft, which they told me they do when I first opened the credit deal with them and where else do you have overdrafts except on current accounts? Confusing, very!

So then I try to transfer to my Natwest Gold credit card account, the reason I am doing a balance transfer is because as Martin advises to keep balance transfer cards for just that - so the interest stays at 0% and repayments are low, not spending or paying for anything and I have credit sitting on it doing nothing right now.

Also I am up to date on all my payments etc, so that cannot be the reason, and then they say they cannot put it through as system is refusing for some reason and excuse given is I am too close to my limit. My left over cash is £265! Am I then to assume that if I went out and bought something on it for £200 instead of a balance transfer, would I then be refused?

Any advice out there, as I cannot see a reason for problems

    thanks

When I applied for my Virgin card in July, I got the same response: "please call us to discuss your application".

Called them the next day and found out they wanted to discuss with me my large number of previous addresses. When I convinced them that I was on the electoral roll at each address, they approved my application.
You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.

    update!!

didnt get accepted for the virgin, they never said why i had to call just put me on hold till they did the application, i never gave any deatails they had them all from online app. they just said no because of adverse info on file, so guess i will have to wait until the removal of the defaults which im in process of doing now.

if you didn't have to give any further information then why did they ask you to phone hmmm sounds like this is the usual automated reply to somebody who there are going to decline.

    good luck next time lousier

maybes the call is so it can be manually looked at, ie computer does it,s
bit then cannot decide, you ring up they scan your credit file and come
up with answer. i remember i had to make that phone call as well. and i
was accepted but had the hard sell on the PPI which i refused point blank..
