Legoland for adults?

Options
Well two big kids really (we both loved Lego as children!) Me and my OH are going to Legoland on Friday but I'm now worried there's not really enough for us to do to justify £35 entry fee. We're not into huge rollercoasters, so thats ok, but are all the rides for young children?

Thanks :o

I went last weekend with my 2 kids - aged 5 and 6. 2 adults went on all the rides with them due to their age. The rides were fine. Not dead scary but for 2 timid parents they were enough. I would say legoland is aimed at 5/6 - 11 years. Rides are OK but wouldn't alton towers be more up your street given your age?

P.S. if you do go I got our tickets for £18 per adult and £16 per child from an link on this site. The advert says ONE voucher per transaction so just do seperate transaction to save a tenner or so off ticket prices.

Thanks I have the Tesco BOGOF entry so £17.50 each adult. We're not into Alton Towers (well I like the water rides) but we're too old to be scared out of our wits and wouldn' go on more than two or three which is why OH won't go to Drayton Manor or other 'theme parks' - we just liked the idea of lego. I was hoping there'd just be lots of Lego to look at but maybe not :(

We've got a travelodge in Slough tonight so we might have to find something else to do after booking the day off work :(

I was really disappointed with Legoland when I went earlier this year. My daughter loved the rides but the park layout is terrible. I went to the real Legoland in Demark as child and I can remember that everything looked like Lego. At Windsor, It's a childrens theme park with a Lego theme/brand running throughout the park.

One positive thing is that the Lego modal village land is amazing (if you like that kind of thing) and there are some really fun Lego animals and other modals scattered (and hiding ) across the park.

I used to work at Legoland, and have been as a guest a few times. I went with my OH when we were 25 and 27. We were both really into lego when we were younger, and I really like Legoland for what it is. The rides are fun, but just remember they are aimed at younger kids. But there are plenty for adults to go on. We certainly made a day out of it.

To keep it cheaper, take your own packed lunch. If you have a car, you can leave it in there and get a hand stamp to re-enter the park.

If you decide against Legoland, you could visit Windsor. I like it there, you can go inside the castle (not done that since I was a kid though) but I think it's a bit pricey.

//!!!!!! - just realised you were going today! Did you go?

If you like the lego land model village then you should like Madurodam. if you are ever in the Netherlands (it's near the Hague). It is absolutely fantastic and all Netherlanders rave about it.

Thanks guys, we spent a fab say there on Friday - really filled the day and had great weather too. Went on a few rides as there was not one queue anywhere, but spent over an hour alone in the mini (model) village. I would recommend anyone in their thirties without kids to go ahead and have a great day out (£35 each is a bit steep though - was glad we paid half price!) Paid £4.50 each on a late brunch cooked breakfast which actually I thought wasn't too bad!

  • Glad you had a good day, the lego model village is really something special, you can easily spend a few hours just looking at that bit.

Model village at Legoland is great for adults, a little boring for the kids, and the rides are not great for adults.
Thorpe park is so much better if rides are what you're looking for, plus it has rides for kids too.
Legoland is expensive, but for less than the cost of two visits, you can get an annual pass. If you live in the nearish area, or even if your visiting family for a week, it's well worth it.
    Have fun wherever you go!

If you really do intend to go only once in a year, go to lastminute.com to get discount. Even if it's that morning, you can pick your tix up from gates, then upgrade to annual pass if you change your mind!
