Vauxhall compatible stereo?

I'm after a cheap CD player (mp3 preferred) for a vauxhall zafira, preferably one that is compatible with the controls on the steering wheel. Any ideas?

  • ebay is probably the best place to look - I've bought a few there without any problems.

If you do go that route, some vauxhalls have a quirk that means replacement stereos don't fully work with the display/and or steering controls. Vauxhall themselves will try to charge you around £80 to sort that out for you, whilst it's actually a 5 second job entering a combination on the stereo - try a google search and save yourself the cash (may be dependent on the model, not totally sure)

This above is not true, It is very likely the new stereo will not work with the existing dashboard display and steering wheel controls, without some sort of vehicle/manuafacturer specific adaptor loom to plug between the new headunit and cars remote/steering controls. You'll also need to make sure you are purchasing a suitably equipped, (more expensive) headunit that can take advantage of the steering controls/on dash display.

Take a look here, this adaptor specifies zafira and as you'll see the adaptors are outrageously overpriced for what they are, avoid halfrauds as I imagine it will be more expensive

    Hope that helps

  • Sorry - I should have specified that I meant a relacement *vauxhall* stereo - i.e one that has been taken from another vauxhall or is an approved vauxhall one. Thats where the code thing comes in. I'm on my third Vauxhall now, and in the previous 2 cars I've had the same issue.

Have you been into your Vauxhall dealer??

They were & probably still are, offering some VERRRRRY good prices, in their last Vauxhall Owners magazine.

Otherwisw, does the one in Lidl (£69.99) fit - or the Halfords JVC (£99.99) do the job??
