Which of these laptops is better?

I am stuck chosing between a couple of laptops and hoped that some tech savvy MSE-ers could help me out.

The current favourites are:

and

(hopefully the link works?) This one is £479, with the option to add - 256MB ATI Mobility RADEON HD 3650 add £60.00

We need a laptop to do the following-
- Have a fairly big screen as I will be doing uni work on it for a long time
- Have 2mb Ram and 2Gb hard drive
- Have a webcam
- Be able to play games which are a couple of years old for hubby.. and if possible play Diablo 3, which he wants but isnt out yet :o

Budget is 500ish max (already pushed up from 400ish )

Are the two I have found any good? Does anyone have any better ideas?

Thanks

Hi -I'm not an expert but I spent ages trying to make my mind up -the Dell appears to be the better offer.

However -I bought a Toshiba Satellite Pro which I'm very happy with, came with a separate usb webcam which clips on, cordless mouse and double bag for everything and yer luggage or an inner for the laptop.
may you live in interesting times

I'd say Dell, but I would upgrade it a bit if you could (you said budget £500) and your link suggests it is £429. Even if you go to £550, you then need to ring up their sales line and say you've been comparing etc etc, you really like one on their site, and try to bring them down. I've done this with last few Dells I've got for people.

The other thing, pay the little extra and get reinstallation discs.
My suggestion and/or advice is my own and it is up to you if you follow it, please check the advice given before acting on it.
  • Thank you guys. Anyone else any ideas? Want to get one ordered in the next couple of days. xx
