Best Buy Printer?

Can anyone recommend a printer where the ink etc doesn't cost an arm and a leg? There seem to be so many to pick from I don't know where to start with the research! I'm not bothered about printing out photos and will be printing mostly black and white with the odd colour pic. It's mostly for homework and hobbies.

I know a little bit - some printers have acartridges where you have to replace the whole thing if one colour runs out etc - but I don't know how to find that stuff out. Any suggestions gratefully received.

Get a laser printer. Thay are black and white, but the ink costs so little it is shocking!

I pay £10-15 for a toner cartridge which lasts for 3,000 pages  :T

There is a Samsung which has been mentioned on these boards for £50 a few times - will try and find it for you ;)

    Here is one:

It is £70, which may be twice as much as an inkjet but you soon make up for this on the ink.

    Hi gizmoleeds,

Would you mind telling me where you get your toner cartridges from? I have used http://www.urefilltoner.co.uk/ in the past, but they don't seem to have refills for the laser printers I can get cheap from eBuyer.

    Many thanks

I'm afraid I can't remember - I only need them once a year (:T) so I just google as and when I need one. Although I think last time another family member got it from somewhere in the White Rose Centre - which is useless advice unless you live in Leeds! ;)

I have recently purchased an Epson Dx3800 for a friend from eBuyer. It is one with seperate Cyan, Magenta and Yellow cartridges (so you don't have to replace the whole colour cartridge when only one colour has run out). It is a 3-in-1 Printer, so it has a scanner and you can copy documents without the PC on.

I have found Compatible Cartridges (not the official Epson ones) on Choice Stationary quite cheaply: http://www.choicestationery.com/acatalog/Epson_Stylus_RX.html.

My friend isn't having any problems using it, and the setup is relatively easy and straightforward. I would also recommend a Mono Laser Printer, but if you think you may print a little colour this option is not available.

Anyway, this printer is available from eBuyer for £53.04 inc. VAT at: http://www.ebuyer.com/customer/products/index.html?rb=13643272981&action=c2hvd19wcm9kdWN0X292ZXJ2aWV3&product_uid=96323

Unfortunately I don't live anywhere near Leeds so that option isn't available. I think I might just wait until URefillToner get their stock in.

    Thanks
