No I don't think you are nuts but I would not put my money in any fixed term at the moment as I think we are in uncharted territory at the moment and I want the freedom to move at the first wiff of trouble.
I will move funds back to KE/ING over the next few weeks.

My money just arrived in Kaupthing Edge a/c today.
Now planning to put it in 3-yr term a/c at 7.67%
Rates like that won't be around for long...
I put money into KE yesterday on the basis that it's protected.
I also felt that if people didn't panic so much we wouldn't be in the state we are.

I have to admit though I've had an uneasy day looking at the news
    Awaiting a new sig

Well, after the site crashing several times - just overloaded I suppose? - I managed to get my transactions done and tied up some cash for 1year and some for 3years.
Time will tell whether it was the right choice, but I am hoping ING will have to honour those rates...

It will be interesting to see whether ex-Kaupthing Edge customers will get the rates as before or whether they will be forced to get new savings rates as per ING.

I suspect they will very quickly reduce the rates on instant access accounts.
    (and new term accounts)

I think if ING dont keep the rate they run the risk of lossin the KE customer cus dat will be the second thing they taking away (dey no longer offer fscs protection).

    do guys agree

I'm with slopemaster here, we are now talking about ING. Safe as anywhere, just not sure about the passport scheme they offer. Will check that out and see what to do with my money.
Well their Chairman seems to have plenty of experience.

Why do all bank managers look like Captain Mainwaring?
  • I'm hoping they won't reduce the interest rates for us KE customers, what's the likelihood? Also, if they do, do you reckon I will have access to my 3 year fixed bond so I can move it out of there
