Printing Icesave statements

It has been advised by posters on this forum and now by Martin on his latest update that we should all print copies of our Icesave statements.

Just in case anyone is worried because they don't have access to a printer (I don't today) there is a simple solution. It is very easy to install a 'PDF printer' on your computer that will create a PDF document of the print out. Even if you do have a printer, it may be useful to save your printed statements as a PDF and then print or email copies as and when you need them (and I have a horrible feeling we may all need multiple copies over the next few weeks).

I have used a free pdf printer called Cute PDF -
http://www.cutepdf.com/Products/CutePDF/writer.asp
but I'm sure there are other alternatives. If you use Cute PDF you will have to download and install the writer and the converter.

Once the software is installed you won't see any new programs. Just login to your Icesave account, pull up your statement and click on print. The standard windows printer box will appear, click on the drop down arrow for the printer name and chose CutePDF Writer then click OK as usual.

You will then get a box asking for a filename and location for the PDF output file, put in a name and click save. You should now have a PDF of your statement that you can print/email copies of whenever you need to.

This forum has provided lots of help and reassurance to me over the last few days and now hopefully this little tip may help a few others.

    Good advice.
In addition I would like to add if your PC has Microsoft Office 2007 installed you probably already have a virtual printer driver installed. Simply choose "Microsoft XPS Document Writer" from the print dialogue and then select where you want to save "the printout". XPS is kind of Microsoft's answer to the PDF format. You can then open the XPS up later and print out a physical copy.

Sound advice, I always use PDF printers to save files such as webpages.
  • And of course with a mac all you need to do is ALT SHIFT 3... and you will take a snap of the whole screen.......

  • I've just tried to login so i can print my account details, and none of my login details are recognised, nor am i able to reset my password. Anyone else have this problem??

Printing is for your own records so you know how much to expect. A printed statement is not proof in any way. The FSCS will know what is owed to you.

I'm also having trouble logging in - although I have my own records as to how much was in there - as think as swipe says the FSCS should know
