Kaupthing CHAPS Floating in Cyberspace

Well what can I say - CHAPS done on Monday - money left the Kaupthing account and took the £20 fee also, but no money arrived in linked bank account.

I've read a few messages saying that BACS withdrawals were recredited to Icesave accounts. Is it possible that they could do the same with CHAPS payments? I know that one way or the other I will get my money back - but it would really help just to know exactly where it is. I've checked the Kaupthing account and the money has been put back - it's got to be somewhere.....

Terri, it was definitely a CHAPS (sameday) payment? If so what time was it sent? Before noon it should definitely be in the linked account, or rather I've never heard of a morning CHAPS failing. However, these are unprecedented times.

I'm sorry but I fear if your cash hasn't hit your account by today its likely to arrive back in your Kaupthing account at some point this week. The return may be delayed if there's been a run on KE - I'm unsure if there was - but I'd imagine if they were inundated with transfers and started to recall the cash there will be a backlog.

We'll fingers crossed, if it arrives back in the account soon, it'll be under the management of ING and then at least I'll be able to get at it sooner (rather than going through the process of a claim etc.), I hope!
