Anti-virus software

My pc-cillin internet security 2005 expires in a couple of days. I bought another one pc-cillin internet 2004 on e-bay as I did not wish to purchase a download. I was told, the year does not matter, it's the license key that counts. Reading the instructions, I had to install previous anti-virus which is 2005 and install the one I have just bought which is 2004, does it make sense to any of you? Basicaly I am uninstalling 2005 and replaced it with 2004. I just want to know whether I could install the new disc without uninstalling. Please advise. Thanks

I would think you would have to uninstall the 2005 version first. You can't normally 'update' software with a previous version.

Yes, that is correct. You can update to a later version of the software - e.g. If you had PC Cillin 2004 and you bought PC Cillin 2005 you could just update without uninstalling 2004. When going backwards however, you must uninstall the newer version to install the older version.

It may let you 'upgrade' backwards but I wouldn't recommend it.
