my gas meter is turning and I'm not using gas!

Hi I thought I would keep a close eye on my gas/electricity use and today decided to do a check to see roughly how much gas I use in a day. I took a reading at 10.30am this morning and it was 1141 with the small figures at 334, I went out shopping, done a bit in the garden as it was nice weather. I thought I would again just check the meter out of interest at 3pm (although I hadn't used the boiler or the gas cooker) and the meter read 1141 with the small figures at 667, now this is a mystery to me as that is a third of a unit.It is a vokera boiler so I 'm not too sure if there is a pilot light or it just fires up when switched on,but surely a pilot light wouldn't use this much..I would be grateful for any comments.shrewdal

No idea how pilot lights use, but with all this talk about meters crawling when gas isn't it use, I think I'll keep tabs on mine.Everybody is equal; However some are more equal than others.0

Could be the pilot light.
When we have no plans to use our heating, we cut the gas supply off to it, so no pilot light burning for no reason.It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!(OK my English isn't great, the sciences, maths & IT are my strong points!)0
