According to an article in one of todays trade press e bulletins, donations to charity shops are down and stocks are low.£705,000 raised by client groups in the past 18 mths :beer:0

People must be keeping the stuff for longer. Charity shops are a growth area during econmic crisis.0

A small charity near me is fighting against closure owing to the credit crunch. They help wildlife and have dealt with a record number of call outs on top of rising prices, so really need help.

I agree but it's going to get a lot worse as the cash flow hits. That is why a lot of the larger one's have commercial partnerships and don't rely on direct donations all the time.0

I imagine a lot of people will be selling things on ebay etc instead of donating them to charity shops.Owing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.

The charity I work for is funded by Trusts, but recently we have had a few applications turned down and I think that this is because all the investments that the Trusts have made must be down like all other investments. So it looks like a difficult time coming.

I agree as most of the trusts don't have money in the bank but in long term savings and investments.0
