how can you tell ......because you didn't get a bounce notice??0 -
Yeah I bet the reason is that because the email inbox isnt manned
at night it is overflowing with spam, well thats what I reckon so the
inbox is full and normal e-mails are being bounced, I sent mine before 7pm
so I expect the inbox wasnt full at that time with spam.0 -
I've read advice in a number of places about not putting email addresses on websites in plain form that touring 'bots can harvest.MSE_Webmaster wrote:We're having a serious problem with Spam at the moment. It's coming in so fast that it's filling up our mail server before we can do anything about it. We're taking steps but it'll take a little time.
Whilst people will sometimes post their own addresses with at and dot in words, even better is to hide the address in an image file that humans can read, but machines can't.
Apologies if this will sound like trying to teach your grandmother to suck eggs, but I've noticed the Abuse email address being posted more often on the forum recently, and I'm wondering if this will have contributed to the increase you've seen. Maybe instead an image file, still appearing as print on a white background, could be used each time that Board Guides post it in future?
This might help reduce the problem gradually, but it might be necessary to think of a new email address.
On the other hand, if the spammers are somehow picking up the reporting posts links as well, you'd better slap me for stating the totally bleedin' obvious and say that the problem is beyond my level of comprehension.0
