Pixmania card payment validation

Hi Moneysavers

I ordered a Tumble Dryer from the Pixmania website yesterday (and now the sun's come out so my washing is drying nicely on the line but that isn't my vent!). Today I have had an email from them saying:
The team at PIXMANIA team would like to thank you for placing an order with us.

You purchased your item by credit card on www.pixmania.com.

In order to validate the details you entered, please contact us on: 0033/ 1 45 01 36 67.

We cannot proceed with your order if this information is not transmitted.

We hope to be able to process your order soon. Thank you for your understanding.

I'm confused...can they really be expecting me to call an unknown number in France to validate my card details?! When I placed my order it said that the card payment had been accepted and I've since had my emailed order confirmation.

All seems a bit dodgy & cheeky of them to me!

Just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

Thanks,

Murray

I stand to be corrected, but Pixmania is a French company and that if you have any problems with either warranty or incorrect/missing orders, you have to contact them in France. Personally I would prefer to deal with a UK registered company as it makes it much easier to chase them.
For white goods, I try and use https://www.iguanadirect.co.uk. Their ordering/customer services are superb - even the delivery men were polite and helpful unpacking the goods and putting them in place and taking away the packaging.

Yep Pix are Froggies and owned by DSG Retail - the wonderful operators of Currys and PC World. That's 2 negatives.:D

I wouldn't order from them if they were the cheapest by far. Pixmania really really suck and there's plenty of threads about them here and on other forums. Do ya feel lucky punk?

Thanks all! Pixmania order cancelled, reordered via iguana (who I'd never heard of before but were nearly as cheap as Pixmania!)...ethical and cheap, bonus!

Please let us know how you get on.As I have said before - I found Iguana an excellent company to deal with.
