    Thanks for posting - we do desperately need some humour on this board!

    My gut feeling is that nobody is going to lose anything at the end of the day, regardless of where they have invested it. It would cause too much hassle for the western banking system.
  • You're v welcome. I share your gut feeling. I was amazed yesterday that Icesave went from struggling on, to nationalisation, to talk of liquidation, to talk of compensation, to FSCS even talking stationery - all in a few hours, with the 'probably' word appearing more than 'may' just about everywhere. Surely, if KE can attract a buyer at 3.5billion (ish) then Icesave may attract an institution with 5billion (ish). Iceland's disappointment at a Western country not bailing them out immediately and the UK rightly annoyed at Iceland's threats of reneging on saver guarantees seemed to fasttrack the liquidation/compensation route and raise anxiety levels prematurely.

    A buyer would be best for all involved. I think and hope that is still the most likely outcome.
