VOIP Cheap Voip-In Number

Hello,
I know that funding your VOIP Cheap Account (with 10£ credit deposit) you can get your own VOIP-In number.

Can anyone tell me if you can choose what number it is?
And has it to be a UK number or can you choose other countries as well?

  • The number offered is in the new Location independent range, 056. You have no choice of number, cost of others calling this number is thought to be 5p a minutee, but when I last checked, it wasnt yet listed on the BT Tariff web pages.

Not sure if this number is yet available from overseas, it took a few years before +44 870 became known to overseas carriers, in spite of the usual notifications via the normal ITU-T channels.
  • PS Though there is no choice of number offered at least there is no charge made for issue, unlike Skype, which charges 30 Euros a year. SIPGATE VoIP service, however, offers a choice of any UK Geographic code, i.e 01 or 02 and like VoiPcheap, doesnt charge for the number..

Yes. You have to either run your own sip proxy server or use something like sipsorcery or pbxs.org, or divert your sipgate number to voipcheap which will cost you some £'s.

The easiest way is to run a SIP client (similar to the skype program :)) on your computer or buy an internet telephone that works over wifi or plugs into your home router.

The sipgate website should provide info on both of these. Doing it this way is easier than diverting to another service which will also cost you money
