It may not apply to fixed rate accounts. But the quote in Baldur's post appears pretty complete - and, at first site, it would do.Cannon_Fodder wrote: »Has anyone quoted Section 9e, and avoided the 90 days loss of interest, on withdrawal?
However. After 60 days anyone with a fixed rate account who hasn't exited will be subject to the fee. Perhaps they are doing this to lose some customers - because the fixed rate is unaffordable - OR maybe they are doing this to 'make money' on early redemptions? But how do you ensure that people will (by-and-large) close such a good fixed rate in the current climate? They are more liklely to have been satisfied and very few would have closed early......under construction.... COVID is a [discontinued] scam0 -
Spoke to Firstsave;
They say the term 6c applies solely if moving abroad.
"solely to Fixed Rate Bonds and their early closure in the instance of the account holder moving abroad"
Firstsave do not allow ANY other closure of Bonds.
Hadn't read it that way previously. Thought I had a 90 day loss of interest option in "emergency" situations. And was hoping the 9e section would apply to avoid that 90 day loss, now that they are adding the £250 charge.
Wonder if they are getting many people pretending to move abroad...?0
