If you're not working do you need to sign on - and DLA question

My wife has been dismissed from work due to ill health and is now able to get a medical pension which will be paid monthly and hopefully the salary insurance will be sorted soon as well so there will be no need to claim any benefits - unless she could also claim Disability Living Allowance?
She is unlikely to be fit enough to work again - does she still need to sign on or let anyone know what is going on?

She would only have to sign on if she was claiming Jobseekers Allowance. If she has mobility/care needs she can make a claim for DLA.0
