cpu & aux have flame symbol next to them so how do get temp down
also what is aux?
SYSTEM - 28C
CPU - 80C
AUX - 120C
HDO - 38C
HD1 - 38C
Win9x:NO 64Bit:NO GiveIO:YES SpeedFan:YES
I/O properly initialized
Linked ISA BUS at $0290
Linked SiS964 SMBUS at $0860
Scanning ISA BUS at $0290...
Winbond W83627EHF (ID=$88) found on ISA at $290
SuperIO Chip=Winbond W83627EHF
Scanning SiSx30 SMBus at $0860...
Address $30 appears to be WRITE ONLY...

take the side off the case, either use canned air (preferred by many) or just a vacuum cleaner, and clean the inside of the case, including all the holes at the back. check the fan's power connections. turn on the PC, can you see the fan on the CPU spinning? if not, remove the fan, take to a pc shop and say "one of these, please", refit. done! under £10.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

don't worry about aux, it's probably misreading a temperature, or it's reading from a sensor that doesn't exist. I'm assuming it stays at 120 constantly, never changing?
Both hard drives and the ambient case temperature are sensible, so there's not a ventilation problem.
The fan's moving, but it might still be a little clogged. I'd take the heatsink and fan out, give it a good clean, then re-fit it. That will also make sure the heatsink hasn't become a little dislodged. You might find it's not making proper contact with the CPU.
If it's down to 60c that's still a little hotter than I'd be comfortable with for a processor idling. some older chips did heat up a hell of a lot mind you. They say it's genetic, they say he can't help it, they say you can catch it - but sometimes you're born with it0 -
DO NOT TRUST THIS SOFTWARE.
I say that simply because a lot of the time it misidentifies what kit is in your computer and then provides false readings.
CPU is a bit toasty though although I'd have expected the motherboard alarm to have been sounding by now.0 -
good point, conor.
may be worth checking the temps as reported by biosUtinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0 -
