Morning folks. I was claiming JSA for 6 months up to around March this year then got fed up looking for a job and signed off to try and set up my own business. This didn't get very far other than to drive me further into debt and I had forgotten to set up NI payments as I wasn't actually earning any cash (I've since been told by the jobcentre that I could have stayed signing on while testing out my buisness idea but nobody mentioned that at the time). I've just started looking around for a job again and tried to sign on for JSA again but have been turned down because of the NI situation. As you can imagine I'm not very happy having been a higher rate tax payer for most of the 20 years I've been working and when I really need help I can't get any. At the moment I'm now looking at every job possible and applying for everything but I'm being knocked back by some as being "overqualified". I've got 2 kids and a wife who works part time in the NHS so we've just got round to claiming tax credits. Is there any other way I can get any benefits at all as at the moment our total outgoings are significantly higher than cash coming in and bankruptcy could be on the cards very soon. Any suggestions gratefully accepted !

Claim Income Based JSA, not Contributions Based. Even if you get nothing because of the wifes' income, you'll get your stamp paid.0
