Bank cuts rates

Down 0.5% now
'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher

Presumably, you mean the Bank of England?
  • Same for the ECB, US Fed, Canada and Switzerland. Guess those fixed rate savings looked awesome 5 minutes ago.
  • Seems like the BOE is as independent of political interference as the US Federal Reserve and the ECB is.;)

Crisis or no crisis, another Brown initiative falls apart.

Do you think they needed thumb-screws on Mervyn King at the meeting last night ?

You're spelling is effecting me so much. Im trying not to be phased by it but your all making me loose my mind on mass!! My head is loosing it's hair. I'm going to take myself off the electoral role like I should of done ages ago and move to the Caribean. I already brought my plane ticket, all be it a refundable 1.
  • Not sure this is good news for savings but it might help steady the ship in other areas, - the Bank of England has agreed to cut interest rates by 0.5%, from 5% down to 4.5%, in a joint decision with several other central banks.

Good news! My mortgage payment will go down :)
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

  • If only my mortgage was on a tracker and not a fixed rate! Oh well.
