Hurry up - dont leave it until the last minute. I dont want to be pessimistic, but there are terribly long waiting lists at most test centres. It depends whether you feel you need lessons (might be sensible to have a few for pointers about possible routes/roundabout practice if you are american/other nuances of the test) - if you are confident enough go ahead and book the test yourself (as long as you have your own car - you will need to make a few easy adaptions - I think you have to buy another mirror for inside the car).0 -
I wouldn't go for the intensive course. I went to the one in Blackpool, spent a lot of money on the course and accomodation and failed. They didnt prepare me properly and its too short a time to learn it properly. The quickest way to double your money is to fold it in half and put it back in your pocket. :rolleyes:0

Well I'm currently learning.... and I now can't imagine learning to do it all in one day/week long. I find I get so physically exhausted from concentrating on my lessons... learning and absorbing new information is very tiring. I also find that if I have a bad lesson, then I've only got 1 hour left rather than a whole day...
I'd also recommend that you get a friend to recommend a nice driving instructor... I found mine through a google search and returned home from the lessons in tears...only after talking to my friends I learnt that you didn't have to get shouted at by your instructors, nor were they supposed to be aggressive or suffer from road rage! I now have a lovely lady who my friend from uni recommended to me... I'm currently recommending her to all of my friends as she has restored my confidence no end
So if anyone is in the Portsmouth area and need a lovely instructor.. just send me a PM
