Do you have share dealing / stocks and shares ISA accounts etc.

If you have capital sat in a nominee account with a broker, you may want to consider which bank it is left in. It will count towards your £50k of protection and if you have savings sat in the same bank you may inadvertantly exceed that limit.

Are you sure about that? There's a separate investment protection in the FSCS protection list which protects you against uninvested cash held on account and covers up to around £48000. Where did you get your info?

I did not know that. I merely asked two companies who I deal with, explained my concerns and they did not tell me otherwise. However, it still leaves a concern for anything over the sum you mention. One of the companies spreads funds across 5 high street banks but where does that leave you if one goes down, they cannot confirm the the percentages. Even though my initial statement sounds wrong there are surely points to consider here.
