Please help r.e portable dvd player/tv

Hi i have ordered a portable dvd player and tv integrated and am having trouble with the tv bit as i thought i would! It appears to have all come in french and i have chnaged all settings to english and am lost as to why it is not picking up, the signal is 54% not sure how to increase it, juts scans and says no signal, do i need to do the gmt time and if so to what as it has gmt+0000 gmt+0100 etc..
Any ideas please as this is dd's birthday present and would like it sorted before she gets it..thanks
