Its petrol all the way for me!
What diesels have you been driving?!
As for whether you should change, its a matter of pounds. The Renault diesels are soooo economic, the petrol version will be less, therefore it evens it out a bit.0 -

I get different cars all the time in work, I have driven
Ford Focus and Modeos (various engines)
Seat Ibiza 1.9 tdi
VW Jetta 1.9tdi
Renault scenic 1.9 and 2.2
Citroen Picaso 1.9
Merc E class estate (large diesel - not sure how big)
BMW 330d
Vaxhuall Vectra diesel - 2.2 (i think)
So I've driven a few. All except the merc and BMW were rubbish IMHO.0 -
I do about 35-40 thousand miles a year, I've had petrol and diesel cars, and would go for the diesel any time. It's better on fuel and has a loads more power than the petrol (Focus). Not noisy at all.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.

Surely you jest! Every diesel focus I've driven have made a noise like a skeleton masturbating in a biscuit tin. I guess some people just don't notice engine noise.
To be fair though, the diesel focuses do drive better then the petrol ones in general but I think thats just down to the fact that most of fords petrol engines aren't that good.0 -
I've luckily never had any engine probs with any of my Focuses. I've had a rear bearing go on the M1, been hit by a missile from a lorry that nearly took me out, and a wheel trim fell off by Leicester Forest services.
Not bad for 8 years and app. 350000 - 400,000 miles of driving.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Old style MoneySaving boards.
