Large Conifer removal

Just had a quote from a tree person (seems to be reputable, land line phone numbers, proper address etc) for removal to lowest stump of a large, dense, slow growing conifer. Its now well past the 2nd storey roof gutters in height and about 10 foot wide. Price for cutdown, removal and drilling the stump to kill the root was £120 good/fair/bad opinions please?

I'd pay that to have someone else do it, so it seems reasonable to me :rolleyes:0

Price aside, he claimed to be an expert but he insisted the stump would regrow if not dealt with, not what I was advised or happened when my 22 conifer hedge was cut down 2 years ago!! searching the web conifers cannot regrow from stumps... Perhaps give him a miss!0

A conifer shouldn't regrow from a stump at all. The drilling etc. would just help it rot quicker.
I had a similar conifer removed recently by a tree surgeon and he dug the root out, which is a much better solution, if the root area is accessible. You can also grind the stumps down. I've just left the stump on another conifer where I was happy to let nature to take its course.Debbie0
