I want to thank the likes of Fella and others who have kept up with the story despite (seemingly) not having money invested and being generally helpful and showing a level of compassion.
However over the last few days while many have been worried sick about their hard earned money, a few members of this online community have taken it upon themselves to gloat, insult and make general nasty, spiteful and Offensive posts towards those who were worried(POSTS ARE MONITORED - Apparantly). Similar posts were made when Northern Rock was struggling.
It's an emotive issue and regardless of how reckless or ignorant some may have been with their money I would have hoped that people on this site would not deliberately try to hurt and offend these people. But it seems some couldn't help themselves. Warnings, advice are all welcome but snyde and insulting comments should not be acceptible.
S0 to all you parasites who have been reveling in onanistic glee at people suffering worry and heart ache. I would like to tell you that the only thing better than knowing that i'll be getting my money back is knowing you are helping to fund me. I'm going to take some of the money and blow it on a massive p1ss up, after all it's going on your tab.
Now take your schadenfreuder and fvck right off.

We should make a list of them, then if they ever come into hardship we get to mock them with no fear of moderation. :rotfl:
But really i've only seen a little of this happening. I think it's ok to say "i told you so" to an extent.Savings

Hi dumby1
It's actually the opposite - posts are NOT monitored and we rely on our "report an abuse" system for users to alert us of potentially problematic postings (it's at the top of the forum in blue).

You're right! My mistake:A .
I don't mind a little 'I told you so' or even expressing an opinion that people have been foolish. But this place at times is a good friendly community and it would be nice if it could stay that way.0 -

It is working the other way too though - there are people worried about losses who are posting offensive posts blaming everyone but themselves, swearing at other forum members etc. (Funnily those ones are being closed by Martin, in order to allow the posts with practical help to get the coverage. But yet this type of thread - the one not mentioning certain names - remain open... *ponders*)
I don't think anyone gets to take the moral high ground on this one.
I do, however, agree that all the mud slinging at each other does not help.April Grocery Challenge £81/£1200 -

These people are a minority. As someone who has money in IceSave I have ONLY ever supported Martin. Most people blaming Martin aren't even involved!0 -
Nothing new here.
If you look at the house board, many posters, often new posters in worrying situations, get bombarded with comments like:
"what part of 'your home is at risk if you fail to keep to repayments' did you not understand?"
"you bought when you thought that house prices could only go up and now you've come unstuck."
"your fault for being seduced by the [new build] builders."
even "greedy BTLers deserve to lose their home".
Go to the mortgage board and you will see comments about why people shouldn't have taken the mortgages offered to them, as they should have realised it was stupid to not have a deposit.
The personal attacks on mortgage brokers, who spend time posting professional comments, many of whom are now losing their livelihood is staggering.
These are people losing their homes and livelihood, coming to this forum for advice and getting grief.
The fact is that there are people who offer advice, people who seek advice and meddlers who just want to vent personal anger on these forums.
As I say, nothing new here.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. Forum Ambassadors are not moderators and don't read every post. That made me lol
And no, I don't have money in Icesave but as I mentioned my brother does.
I'm glad to see that when the Gov did finally speak on this it was to say the right thing. No-one deserves to lose their savings & it would have been a travesty if the Gov bailed out the irresponsible whilst leaving the responsible folk hanging.
I agree a drink is in order, rough days at the moment.
cheers

Thanks for that, and for all those who have just read this and not commented about anything, you have just rubbed it right into the noses of those living in poverty, pensioners etc etc, so when you are enjoying your booze up as you say at someone elses tab, remember they are probably sat at home with very little in their cupboards for food and even less money to keep their property heated..:mad:0 -
And to be frank, I believe that is negligent. This is a place where many financially naive people rely on the financial advice given and you should be taking some responsibility for and monitoring the many posts giving poor advice.MSE_Forum_Manager wrote: »It's actually the opposite - posts are NOT monitored and we rely on our "report an abuse" system for users to alert us of potentially problematic postings (it's at the top of the forum in blue).
It was very noticeable for example that this board was allowed to used by a PR officer from Icesave to deny the accurate warnings being given with no intervention from yourselves.0 -
Don't recall seeing that. Link?0
