New oven - gas or elec cheaper to run?

Just going through the planning/pricing process of a new kitchen. Presently we have a gas hob and a elec oven which is a combination I like.
However some of the gas range cookers you get these days do look very swish. Just wondering if anyone knows if on average it is cheaper to run a gas oven or a elec oven. (and yes I realise it depends what size, power etc you have and how much you use). Just looking for a general impression
Thanks

Natural gas is a third of the price of electricity but where electricity is seen as 100% efficient, gas is ~80% (depending on the appliance) BUT about 60% of the power put into a electricity power station comes out the socket.
In short gas greener and cheaper.0 -
An electric fan assisted oven is more energy efficient than a gas oven as it cooks food far quicker, therefore the ideal set up is considered to be a gas hob & fan assisted oven. The bigger the bargain, the better I feel.
I should mention that there's only one of me, don't confuse me with others of the same name.0
