British Gas Central Heating Repairs

My boiler has suddenly packed in, it is a combi boiler and the flame doesn't light when you switch it on.

I need an engineer as I know nothing about boilers and will cause more problem is i try and fix it myself.

I went onto the British Gas website

and they gave me a quote of £168 to fix any problem they come accross.

Has anyone used this service before? Would you reccomend?

Have you used the pilot light button, push and hold then use the igniter button, keep holding the button in?

Is the pilot broken unscrew?

Water pressure ok. Gas on - check - does the gas cooker work?

Gas is on as cooker and fire work, as far as i know there is no pilot ignition switch, the only thing on the front is a dial which you can turn when you want the heating on.

The Boiler is a Ferolli Modena if thats any use.

Probably something really simple, but I would not mess with any gas appliance. Always get someone who is Corgi approved and they don't come cheap, £168 could be the best investment you will make this year.
