No dial tone after broadband activiation.

I currently have a BT landline that worked fine (up untill yersterday).

I had broadband activiated, also through BT, and now have no dial tone or broadband. I have tried plugging in several phones directly into the socket but still get the same results.

When I contacted Bt they tested the line and said everything was fine and say that the only option is to send out an engineer.

I am confused as the landline was fine one day and non-exsistant the next! Is this something to do with the broadband activation as it seems a bit of a co-incidence!?

Any ideas?

Many thanks, Danny

I think it would be a huge coincidence for this fault to be due to anything other than the work carried out in the exchange when connecting the broadband.
If you have a new style linebox and have plugged your phone into the test socket and still get no dial tone then you should be safe to report it to BT.
  • many thanks, will be contact with BT as soon as I finish work!

Hi Danny - did this get sorted ?

    Just a few thoughts:-

do you have any extensions ? ( These are your responsibility and will get charged by BT if the fault lies with them )

have you fitted broadband splitters ? ( not sure if this would cause no dial tone at all though )

    Regards
