Increasing Memory

I have 512Mb memory installed at present i.e. 2x256Mb. I want to increase this and have 2 slots free, do I have to only increase using 256Mb memory strips of can I install 2x 512 Mb strips into the free slots without any problems.

Thanks in advance

Hx.

Why do you want to waste money by installing more memory.
Above 512mb you will notice very little difference.

hmm not strictly true, if you have applications that take a lot of memory then you sure will notice the difference between 512 mb ans 1 gig.

as mentioned, it depends on your mother board, it may only support up to 1 gig of ram. you also need to check what ram you actually have to make sure you buy the correct version.
