ING safe limit rise

I've just logged in to ING to see that savings are now guaranteed up to 100,000EUROs (77,000GBP).

  • Thanks vigman. I was wondering how safe ING was.

Are ING Direct regulated? ING Direct is:
    • Regulated by the Financial Services Authority for the conduct of UK business and as a Dutch bank, is authorised by De Nederlandsche Bank.
    • A subscriber to the UK Banking Code. Copies of the code are available on request, or from www.bba.org.uk.
    • We are covered by the Dutch Investor Compensation Scheme. Click here for more information.
    • Under the scheme our customers receive €100,000 (£77,700 approximately) of protection per person.
In my mind, ING is just as bad as Icesave but am probably mistaken. Personally, I'd get any cash out of ING now.

    Iceland population/GDP - 300k/$12bn

    Netherlands pop/GDP - 16m/$640bn

Not that I'm vouching for the security of ING, but it really shouldn't be any worse than a UK bank.

Where the Dutch Investor compensation scheme refers to persons does that mean UK investor persons as well as any dutch investor persons?
