Give Martin a Break...

Anything on this scale was unthinkable 1 or 2 years ago. Martin has no responsibility for your money.

He has definitely been at the butt of most of the criticism and his recent interview on Ch4 was wholly unfair and inaccurate.

You made the decision to invest in the bank and you accepted the terms and conditions at the time of investing. I too am affected by this ICESAVE problem, but I am not too concerned about the outcome.
Martin only gives out advice to the best of his knowledge at that point of time, he has no bearing on what may happen in the future.

For those that have more than 50k invested in the bank, consider yourself lucky that it has suspended transactions on Tuesday (when the limit was increased by the FSCS). We can all hope that it is only temporary but I guess we can only wait and see.

Let's work together, don't point the blame as Martin has helped a great deal of people all over overcome debt and he continuously gives out very good advice (remember he is only one person and there is only so much one man can know, it's up to you if you take him up on his advice), I'm sure he's saved everyone a bit of money at some point!

second that we all need to support Martin for his help and efforts it his not his fault -and at the end of the day we made the chpice and took the risk .
lets all get behind Martin and again we need our icesave action group to help.
  • I said the same yesterday in another post. I don't blame Martin in any way whatsoever. He made it clear to me that it wasn't covered by the FSA due to being offshore.

I was recommended IceSave by my own financial advisor, and not Martin. As Martin said on Channel 4 last night, IceSave was the best buy on all the price comparison sites, newspapers etc so why put the blame on him.

I still respect his opinion and will still come here first whenever I need to look into savings.
  • Wholeheartedly agree - Martin deserves our support. The way John Snow treated Martin last night on Channel 4 news was absolutely disgusting!
A shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who does not exist.

A young loner on a crusade to champion the cause of the innocent,
the helpless, the powerless, in a world of criminals who operate above the law.

You only have to read beyond the first post in many of these 'angry' threads to realize it is a very small minority that hold any anger toward Martin.
As others have already mentioned, Martin & this website are perfectly positioned to help represent the plight of those adversely affected by recent (and possibly future) events.

Ultimately the banks are to blame.... unfortunately almost everyone hates banks anyway, and as faceless institutions people are looking for an individual to blame.

So, when the hordes start marching - make sure they're chanting:
    Burn Brown, not Martin!:money:
  • It is how some people have been holding Martin personally responsible for their money and the Icesave problems. It's like they are wanting Martin to guarantee any money they deposit!

It's awful, there shouldn't be threads like this people shouldn't get so hot under the collar and just point blindly to pass on the buck. I don't think people fully realise what all these accusations could do to even the strongest person...

    I've just watched last night's Ch4 news.
JS was out of order  Poor Martin :(

Thank you Martin for your invaluable advice on this site.
At the end of the day, it is up to us, what we do with our money.
Those who have savings in Icesave, will be rescued by the UK government, and you will get all your savings back.
