Hi,
I've had Sky + installed a couple weeks ago. I have noticed in the evening when it's quieter, there is a high pitch sort of noise from the box. It makes the noise durin gthe day but it's not as easy to hear.
Anyone else have this? I'll be giving Sky a call to see it can be sorted or swapped - unless anyone else knows how to stop it?
cheers

It might be the hard drive inside spinning, the HDD in my box can be heard sometimes, but it is not loud enough to worry about.0

Yes call them, it will be HDD bearing noise or maybe the internal PSU has a dodgy capacitor and will fail sometime.0

i don't have sky+, but i read somewhere recently that there's a feature to 'rewind' live tv, which effectively means the program you are watching is being continually recorded, turning this feature off apparently stops the noise.Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

This is a problem I have with most electrical devices. When anything is switched on at the socket I hear a high pitched continuous drone. My advice would be either turn the tv up to mask the noise, or switch it off at the socket.0

tonyhague... but turning off that feature really defeats the object of having sky+ in my opinion...0

you still keep the ability to pause live tv, just the live rewind feature. hard drives spin at several thousand RPM, they do generate noise..Utinam logica falsa tuam philosophiam totam suffodiant.0

Isn't it more likely to be a PSU or other electrical component, rather than the HD? If a HD were making an audible whine then I'd say it was in a very sorry state,0
