Gordon Brown press conference now. He has said all deposits will be honoured with Icesave AND the government is suing Icelandic government for the return of those deposits

Where the hell is our government going to pluck £16bn from ???

    Increased taxes, lower public spending.

Don't forget the extra £50 billion to bail out the banks as announced this morning they have to find that from somewhere too.

there is a live video stream to the press conference
  • Thank you Martin. You have definitely been treated very badly and I hope you don't get disheartened at all what has happened and what some people have said.

But well done for defending yourself - and showing your face.
Martin is a real trooper! And will always be respected all around - to say Ch4 needed him on there to confirm some of the facts explains it all.

I've never been a keen fan of the media :(

  • I am in the same boat, i withdrew £ 33000 on Sunday night plus interest of about £ 1000 (by BACS). Thus far not a penny has arrived at my LLoyds TSB account.
    Questions.

1 Will Alastair Darling pay the interest due up untill Sunday.?
2 Will Alastair Darling pay the interest which should have accrued since i made the withdrawal, after all if the money never arrives at LLoyds then it has effectively never been withdrawn. ?
