Keyboard - US version of English wrongly installed

Yet again I turn to this forum for some help?

A few months ago when reformatting my PC, stupidly I installed the US Englisg version of my keyboard. Not a major problem but annoying when doing reports because I can't do a pound sign (comes out as #) and the @ is above the number 2 etc.

I have uninstalled the softwear and reinstalled it but that hasn't worked.

Short of a new keyboard, is there anything I can do to get bacck to the UK version of English?

Assuming you are using a recent version of Windows, go to the Control Panel, Regional Options. Click on the last tab, Input Locales and click on the Change button.

    Thanks

Have you checked your regional and language settings in Control Panel?

The first tab should show Standards & Formats: English (United Kingdom) also Location: United Kingdom.

Next click on the languages tab, then details if English (United Kingdom) is not shown, click on Add to add it and then remove English (United States) afterwards.

Then go back to the first (Regional Options) tab, click on the 3rd tab (advanced) and change "Language for non-unicode programs) to English (United Kingdom)

The above assumes you are using Windows XP. It may be different for previous versions.

    Hi dwsjarcmcd,

Here is how to get the UK version back under Windows XP (I am guessing you are running that OS)
    • Open Control Panel
    • Double-click Regional and Language Options (you may need to click Date, Time, Language and Regional Options first if you are using the Category view)
    • In the Regional and Language Options box, check that the settings on the "Regional Options" tab are set to English (United Kingdom) and United Kingdom.
    • Next, click the Languages tab, then click Details.
    • Click Add, then select:
      • Input Language: English (United Kingdom)
      • Keyboard Layout/IME: United Kingdom
    • Click OK, then Apply.
    • Now, in the drop-down list, select English (United Kingdom) - United Kingdom
    • Click Apply, then OK, then OK.

That should get you running again. Try opening Word or something like that and typing an @ sign and £ sign. If you have any problems, just post back! ;)
