Where now for safety?

After a bit of a shuffle DH nd I have all our sterling avings in two banks...HSBC and Lloyds. DH also has Lloyds ISAs, and I was about to get my first ISAs. No bank seems immune from rumour ATM. Our plan had be to keep it all in my name (lower tax band) but missed out on Northrn Rock. I don't know how to decide which institutions, and I need three minimum if its all to be in my name, four really....and I literally do not know what to do.

I'm almost tempted to put it in the bank of mattress even just til things stabalise a little. :o:confused: .
