Hello Hope :hello:
Welcome to the forum, the hardest part is posting, once you’ve broken the ice, it becomes easier, there are many, many of us who were in your position, but with the help and support of the members dealing with our personal finances does become easier.
Remember, this is an anonymous forum, give us the opportunity to point you in the right direction.
Bear in mind, no one, and no company has the right to make you ill, regardless of the circumstances.Click here for Martins (MSE) advice on who to contact with Debt Issues - YOU HAVE NO REASON TO USE A FEE PAYING DEBT MANAGEMENT COMPANY- THEY CANNOT DO ANYMORE FOR YOU THAN THOSE LISTED IN MY LINK ABOVE.
All information given by myself is offered informally and without prejudice - if in doubt seek help from a qualified and insured professional0 -
My only advice is keep paying the £1 regardless.
There is nopoint agreeing to £60 if realistically you can't afford it and they will just then put pressure on for more anyway.
1st Credit can be right !!!!!! (excuse my language) but they rely on fear and threats rather than the law. Stick to your Guns. The may decide to force BR but as you appear to have no assets then it would actually cost them money and they would get no return so it is unlikely they would go this route.
Just keep making the £1 payments without fail then if they do go for a CCJ you have evidence you have offered and paid what you could reasonable afford and you can request a judge sets the level of payment to that if needed.MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/2000

I've had some dealings with 1st Credit too, and they insist on doing business by phone. Am i entitled to ask to deal with them by letter only? It gets the point across clearer in my case.0

1st credit would make anyone ill! They spent about 3 months pursuing me by text, by calling 20 times a day to my home and my mobile, and all for a debt that was for some guy with the same surname as me (had the same first initial too!). Those cheeky, horrible people at 1st Credit refused to believe that I was female so couldn't possible be the guy in question and were insisting that I pay a gas bill for a flat I've never lived in (and I've nevr even had gas!). "So, will you pay it anyway?"
Even British Gas said they were happy that it was nothing to do with me - seems the tracing company decided that the Ms J Doe in the phonebook was the same Mr J Doe who'd ring up the gas bill and not paid.
This company will break every rule in the book to try and get you to pay money over to them even if you are not responsible for the debt, and even if you are not the same sex as the person responsible.Almost debt-free, but certainly even with the Banks!0 -
Hello There you don't have to do business by telephone I'm sure there are some template letter's you can copy from here someone more up on this than me should be able to point you in the right direction. In my case I just wrote and told them I would no longer do any business with them by telephone and to remove any numbers they held on me ..... So far no calls Good luck:TNot going to bury my head in sand any longer

Yep, don't let these guys bully you and keep everything in writing. They will say that they don't deal in writing but tough, they have to if you ask them to. Also, you will find that they will send letters to you asking you to call them, don't call them but simply write back and say you will not call them but they will still ask you to but just keep writing to them. They don't like dealing in writing as they can't bully you. They believe that they are above the law and believe they can do what they want. Oh, how I love Worst Crudit!!!
Also, they will tell you that they don't accept payment plans but they've been accepting payments from me for the last 6 months! I think they know that if they try and take me to court the judge will just set the payments at what I am paying now so they've gone away for a while and I just keep paying them what I can afford.
I made them put the phone down on me when I spouted back at them all the rules of the OFT debt collection guidelines they were breaking (just about all of them!) and that I would report them to the relevant bodies. They don't like it if you know what you're talking about and catch them out. As other poster said, they rely on threats and bullying to get you to pay, and not on the guidelines.
Good luck.Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

just write to them offer your payment and send it once a month, dont talk to them via the phone change your number if you have too .
ALL dca work on is grinding you down and make you make a payment you cant afford or make you borrow to pay them it is all down to you just sticking your heals in hard and dont budge if you dont play ball WHAT CAN THEY DO??, nothing if anything goes to court make an offer of a payment, what you can afford it is in general accepted and no need to attend court they, a dca threatened my friend with a bankruptcy order, they havent implemented it yet, but he hopes they will but he is not holding his breath unless they are the only creditor and you owe them thousands etc etc, in the main from what i have got off here they dont it would cost them money and if you have no assests such as a home etc etc they will not get anything.
I was in debt and know how hard it is the threats from dca workers via phone , i was harrassed at work 3 times a day , by mobile , at home , and had 19 k worth of debt i set up my own dmp after the cccs said go bankrupt but it would be a shame for such a small amount,
so i dealt with them by letter, if they didnt play ball i didnt deal with them i admit i left my job so that stuffed them, i changed my mobile that stuffed them , i wouldnt speak via phone that stuffed them,i was then in controll i was not going to let some oik of an dca worker phone me up talk to me like dirt issue pie in the sky threats, it was a case of you will do it my way or kiss my !!!, i did keep my home number for the first year or so in to the debt problems all they got was an answer phone message sorry cant take your call they used to leave a meassage i deleated if i answered there was always a dely i then hung up.i paid them as i got the money some reduced sttlement offers etc etc one or two went to court i payed them a fiver as i knew i could afford that and when i got the dosh i paid them off , your credit history is shot any way for 6 years, so i didnt bother paying the court for the cj to be marked as settled, i got one debt written off. ITS all down to you how you wish to deal with it, make sure you pay the essential bills and any cj on time and remember you can always go back to court to get a cj payment reduced, bailiffs come as a last resort non payment of ct etc and non payment of cj,
debt collectors on your door step are rare dont be intimidated they have NO POWER WHAT SO EVER offer your payment and then tell them to sling there hook YOU DONT HAVE TO PAY A DOOR STEP COLLECTOR say the rest via bank giro or standing order never a ddebit, dont believe what they tell you via phone they lie you must take controll .
you must not be scared of answering the door or phone what is there to be scared of?? NOTHING they issue !!!!!! threats that hold no weight. no one should be scared to answer there door or phone.
Once they see you will not be !!!!ed about they soon start to play ball but it can take time .
only one debt wouldnt play ball they sold it 5 times my credit file due to 6 years is clean and that one debt is statued barred they ask me once in a while i just tell them to !!!! off and i can pay it if i want to but im not going to ,it only takes a second and i bin there letter in 8 years 2 debt collectors on my door step ooooh eee, and i just told them to bog off .
Just remember its threats thats all and take controll, we all had to eventually, do that turn the tables and keep putting the phone down ,
As the cccs said to me all you do is hang up or change your number .
THERE IS ONLY ONE PERSON WHO MATTERS THATS YOU, NOT YOUR CREDITORS THEY KNEW THE RISK OF LENDING MONEY TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC SOME TIMES THINGS GO WRONG AND THEY GET STUNG DO YOU THINK THE MD OF A COMPANY IS SITTING AT A TABLE SAYING THAT GOOD CHAP GAVE ME HIS LAST PENNY NO HE DOES"NT HE DOES"NT GIVE YOU A SECOND THOUGHT SO DONT GIVE THEM ONE THINK ME ME ME ME ME ,0
