Can anyone tell me where BOS fits in with the HBOS situation for depositer protection. I managed to have a joint offset mortgage with Intelligent Finance backed by a savingas a/c in my wifes name, a TOISA with Halifax in my name and a Hargreaves Lansdown share dealing a/c with BOS in my name. BOS seem to be missing of all the bankng lists. How will they work out the compensation (if due)? The savings a/c in my wifes name is a bit more than the mortgage and total of all savings is less than £100k. Any one able to explain?

Bank of Scotland's FSA authorisation (number 169628) covers BOS, Halifax, Intelligent Finance & others, so they count as one institution for FSCS purposes - see this table on the main site.

Individual depositors are covered, under the FSCS, for savings up to £50,000 as of yesterday, joint account holders would be covered up to £50K each. The mortgage would be taken into consideration when assessing any claim and set against any compensation due.

Investments are covered under a different provision of the FSCS.
