I found the National Rail website more useful as you can input anything in the to/from fields in the fare finder tool and quickly pop back to change times. The other site uses pre-defined stations to select from.
It's really helped me track down some cheap fares. Remember to only buy through sites that don't charge a fee for credit cards! Crosscountry and virgin trains for example. Plus you can collect your tickets from your local train station rather than a machine!!
