birmingham midshire hbos can I withdraw fixed bonds

Having been cuaght up in the Icesave issues , I am now worrying about having over the protected 50k in b/midshire. These are all fixed rate bonds not maturing till next year, if hbos/lloyds deal fails and hbos goes bust , I will loose all sums over 50k what should I do?

As for withdrawing funds from Bham Midshires bonds, I'm not sure. But I don't think you should worry too much as I'm sure things will settle somewhat after Alistair Darling's announcement re: partial nationalisation of all High street banks tomorrow morning.

I agree I wouldn't do anything too rash I really can't see the UK government allowing them to go under

thanks folks , hope you are right , hbos shares were 94p at 445pm today just worried that the shares will be worthless before/if they merger goes ahead.
