Gas hob (Built in) recommendations?

Hello,

Does anyone have any recommendations for a built in gas hob? I am a member of Which.co.uk and I have chosen their best buy for my built in oven but I now need to choose a gas hob but they haven't reviewed them yet.

My oven is the Electrolux Intuition EOB53000K, which is black so preferably I would want a black (ceramic?) gas hob.

Thanks!
Salbot

We have an electrolux "gas on glass". They don't appear to make the same model anymore but the nearest one to ours is this one.
No problems with ours in the two years we've had it. Only disadvantage really is that if you don't use a microfibre cloth to clean it you end up with smeary glass. Does look good when it's kept clean though!
There's a similar looking Zanussi gas on glass hob too i believe (zanussi part of electrolux but usually more expensive and a year longer guarantee)

    I have this one:

It's an AEG Electrolux :) I managed to get mine for £179.99. I like the one andrew-b posted but I was worried about not being able to see where you put the pan down, when you're putting the pan down and them therefore toppling over if you don't get it on straight, iyswim. :o

I clean it the same as granite tops and the glossy units - damp cloth in one hand, dry tea towel in the other to dry it - no smears anywhere in my kitchen!

Used to do ours the same way until i discovered the wonders of microfibre cloths. With a damp microfibre cloth it takes literally half the time - i do the rest of the kitchen the same and can see my face in the kettle, toaster, tiles, tap, microwave, oven door, fridge door etc! Used one to clean pups muddy paw prints off the lounge wallpaper earlier (grrr..i wish i'd never taught him to jump up at the door when he wants my attention to go out!!).

We haven't toppled anything over yet on it. Wok or big frying pan seem fairly stable on ours though the instruction booklet says your meant to get a special diffuser (?) for bigger pans i believe. Ours doesn't have the sticking out bits on the pan supports like the one i linked to above.

Thing that always worries me is burning my fingers on the hot pan supports when turning the gas off - not done it yet but there is not much room for error! Had to rush OH to casualty in the past when she badly burnt herself on one of the aluminium hob covers (sort you get from betterware etc) on the old electric oven  ..so she's quite careful now!

    Thanks guys,

I think I like the one you have suggested Andrew-b - it looks really nice - I didn't think I would ever get so excited about buying kitchen appliances! It is also reasonably priced (which is very important, especially as I am buying a new kitchen as well!). It will also match my new oven! :T

    Thanks!

I know what you mean..the hob was the one appliance that excited me as it was something that little bit different to the norm. We saw it on display and had to have it!

Not a particularly good picture of the hob but here's ours in situ with zanussi oven:

(See i told you how shiny my kettle and toaster and tiles were :) !)
