Dell desktops. What can I get for very little money?

I've been very impressed by the Dell laptop offers. However, being really tight and not needing a laptop, I've been aroused (financially) by their desktop offers. It looks like I can buy a pretty decent set up for around £300.
How "good" a machine can I buy for this sort of money? I only intend to run internerd explorer, word and excel on it. It looks like I can get around 2-2.5GHz processer clock rate for that money. I don't care about the screen size.
Worth it?

That would be fine for what you want to use it for as long as you dont intend to play games as that will drain resources a bit, also they can be a pain to upgrade unlike a desktop, so be warned as an upgrade is nigh on impossible or if the monitor breaks on a laptop expect to shell out a few quid.0

Right, action plan is going to be, er, actioned when I can bring myself to spend the money.

I got a good spec machine on cube247 from their budget range. Been pleased with the machine and the advice. Delivery was less than a week from order. They do charge a creditcard suppliment but include delivery.0

That's a good spec. 3GHZ and 512MB.
How long is that offer going to last?Happy chappy0 -
If you need speakers and a modem that`ll be another £25.
All Dell current offers are at this site and usually change on a Thursday.

that's the thing with dell, it's a good offer but add the things you need, like a modem, speakers, and dvd writer, that bumps the price up
That, is an excellent question...0 -
Try the small business section at dell, they allow individuals to buy from there and are cheaper than the main site.0
