Is it possible to be billed by 2 electric suppliers?
Hi All,
I have recently moved into a rented house with my girlfriend. The letting agent said he would contact n-power to say we were moving in, i said 'Can I switch from them' (previous bad experience). He said I can if I wish.
The next day we get a letter from EON saying that they supply the electricity and can I tell them how much is on the meter. So I ring them up and agree for them to supply my electricity and I will to pay by direct debit.
Today we get a letter from EON and my girlfriend is now insistent that the lettings agent was going to contact npower and when that went through we could switch. She is now worried that we will be getting 2 bills - That EON will be taking the direct debit and Npower will send a bill through the post for the electricity supplied. I am not convinced this is possible, but is it? Could we have 2 bills?
Secondly, (sorry i'm new to all this) I have only been in the place 10 days and have had the electricity with EON for 9 days, but is it possible to switch already? they seem rather expensive when compared to Scottish Power. Uswitch calculated that we could save £70 a year with Scottish.
Thansk for any help.

You can only be supplied by one supplier. There is a central registration system that records who the supplier is so when you requested EON to be your supplier they will have initiated the registration process which moves the meter point from N-power to EON.
In terms of switching you can change suppliers after 28 days.IT Consultant in the utilities industry specialising in the retail electricity market.
