I can assure you my health in fine. I haven't become a rate tart and put in jeopardy my savings for the sake of a couple of extra % by putting it in foreign banks. I sleep very well at night

Can't be bothered to cross swords with you any longer . . . mate!!
Just a final thought, though - how about all those professional finance officers from local authorities etc who went for Icesave to get the best rate? Are they all stupid, like we "rate tarts" who also strive to get the best return for our savings?
I hope that you live long and prosper - sincerely. :beer:0 -
renard,
To be honest comparing yourself to the local authority probably something you shouldn't do to prove your case. I doubt that you (or anyone on this forum) are so; costly, lazy, incompetent and lack the ability to find where they sit with two free hands and a map. Or is it just my council?

This site is as dangerous as every paper with a financial section, every financial website and every financial magazine.
Its you that is dangerous, not this website. Where do these rich idiots come from?
If you read my ps you'd see that I was not blaming Martin and I know that its me who made the decisions and no one else. But to call me an idiot is offensive and unnecessary given the year I've had. I'm not rich, I've worked hard, always been on a salary, never wasted money, always saved for the rainy day. As I said, putting money into a bank was not a risk until recently. And I couldn't take it out and spread it around because it was fixed in there for a year. I'm just a typical, middle class, nobody.
What about all those people who lost their pensions a few years ago. Do you call them idiots as well for putting all their futures in one basket? I think they should have been bailed out too.
You, magicdogsbrain, have obviously no idea how heartbreaking these things are. Well, sorry but it looks like I will get some or all of it back. Don't be upset you can go out and spend your money as before.0 -

No...matey, they were apparently following orders from the great John Prescott who in a previous incarnation had decreed that LAs invest their money so they get the highest rate of return.
