Icesave Customer? This is what you NEED to do.

Right everyone,

With all that is going on there seems to be a lot of panic regarding the situation with Icesave. I am an Icesave customer myself (19000 of my hardest earnt pounds in there), and having spent the afternoon researching I think this is what will happen

1. VERY IMPORTANT - Log into your Icesave account now whilst you still can and print off the main page which outlines all your accounts. You should also click on 'View Statement' and Print these off as you may need them as proof in the future. This last bit is very important if you have money currently in transit betwenn accounts, as it may not reach its destination.

2. There is sadly nothing else you can do but wait. The FSCS will contact you about the money you have in your Icesave accounts and until they do you cannot claim a penny.

3. If you will be needing the money soon (to pay builders, house deposit etc.) then let the people in question know asap, they may be more understanding. You will probably not see this money for months and I hate to say it, but it could be well up to a year before we see a penny from the Icelandic or UK governments.

I know how everyone must be feeling. I am gutted, I really am. I am very annoyed at the people in charge who reassured us all was well, and I do wonder whether our own government knew about this before today. I know you take your own risks with investments, but you do it based on what you know. If GOVERNMENTS are telling you it is safe, then what else can you do?

I'm going for a nice bath and having a few beers tonight. It's out of my hands now, I hope my faith in the UK government isn't going to prove to be misguided.
