My parents may / may not have lost their life savings in joint account of ~£75k.
The news today and the panic and misinformation is appaling.
The reputation of governments / banks is being shattered as we speak; this will have lasting damage to the fundamental fabric of our society / way of life.
In order that these governament or banking executives command such great bonus or pay it's simply not good enough to say that this is an unlikely event, don;t panic etc. We don't need sentiment, we need the rudamentary facts.
There should be measures in place, clear information, possibly a financial body to communicate officially about peoples rights etc when such an event occurs. Like now.
Finally I'd like to just add that it is governments that have failed absolutely in protecting our interests, they probably don't understand the system but thats no excuse to not put in place policies to protect the hard working man/woman.
