  • You could get a Three 3G usb dongle for net access.. + mobile phone + freeview box - that'd sort out TV, Phone and net
  • Hi dboughtwood,

I have a caravan in north wales, towyn on a site called golden gates, they have just supplied broadband and telephone lines to all of the caravans throughout the park, as many people live on the park for 10 1/2 months per year. i dont have it installed myself as i only use my caravan for holidays.

But there are packages from £18.99 per month, telephone landline, free calls, internet access 2 mbps etc

We have sky but we tend to your the freeview box as it doesnt cost anything.

If you looking to buy caravan, maybe wales way there some on here, if i was you i would buy privately as the sites tend to rip you off!

Theres normally a change over fee around £600 which the seller pays to the site to changes the names on the caravan, but most sites tend to take 15% of the sale price, from the seller after the sale. so be careful before buying as you might one day be the seller!

The ground rent works out around £250 per month, this included water, gas, electric and council tax, but you can only stay on park for 10 1/2 months per year, then you must be out for 6 weeks ended 4th Jan. I would advise to get a caravan with double glazing, central heating, as does get cold in the winter.

May people i know tend to go on holiday for 6 weeks or stay in hotels Then return on 1st march.

Pm me if you would like anymore advice!

I agree with ringo - not necces. getting a 3 network one, but a Mobile Broadband connection is now very cost effective as long as you are not downloading GBs of Movies down the web.

I believe a lot of caravan sites now have wireless broadband access. My Dad is an internet addict and has gone to a few sites where he has had access - although I think it can be expensive. Mind you, that was for 'tourers' so there might be better deals for statics. If you do a bit of research I think you might find the situation a little more advanced than you might expect.
  • Hi

We are living in a mobile home whilst doing a self build (is that serious money saving to try to build our own???). There is no reason you can't have all the things in a static mobile home that you would in a house. We have freeview and a normal BT phone - unfortunately can't have broadband as live out in the sticks too far from the exhange and also there is no 3G network here either.

If you are able to get Broadband, I would recommend checking out the Utilities Phones green coloured tab at the top of this page.

    Hope this helps.

I have a 3 mobile internet dongle for use in my touring caravan and it works as well as my home broadband as long as I am in an area with a good signal. There is a coverage map on the 3 website but it is a bit hit and miss if there is not blanket coverage in the whole area where you are staying. I recently went to a site just outside Cromer and the map showed patchy coverage. It is difficult to see exactly where you will be. I seemed to be on the borderline, it worked most of the time, sometimes I had to use an extension USB lead and put it on the caravan roof through the roof light to get a signal but that was not a problem unless it rained. Overall I have found it very good.
