The FSCS statement has been taken out!
That could be simply because it no longer applies. The FSCS "tops up" the extra up to £50,000. Since ING are now offering more than that the FSCS doesn't come in to it.

Yes but that now means the Dutch scheme is the only way to claim compensation. I have more faith in the dutch scheme than the icelandic scheme, but not enough for me to keep money in ING anymore. I have already gone through the stress of the Icesave fiasco so dont want ING to worry about as well.

Regardless of the status of ING in the Netherlands, I don't regard ING Direct as the same company. For that reason and the Icesave stuff - and when I realised on Monday, for the first time, that they were in this ridiculous passport scheme, I moved all my money out except for about £20. If they'd been fully signed up to the FSCS I'd have left it - but you never hear much Dutch news in the UK, and if anything did go wrong, you can bet you'd only hear about it as UK accounts are frozen.

After my experience with Iceland, never again will I have money in a foreign bank! We should take Icesave as a lesson learned!

Agreed Molly Mandy - but understandable gut reaction from a lot of people.

I had been planning to move my money out anyway due to interest rate and needing quicker access to it to keep current account flowing.

I had recently moved money in because they offered me the 6.25% until next year on the websaver. But it wasn't until the Icesave trouble I even realised what the passport scheme entailed, should a claim need to be made - and the possibility of companies ring-fencing domestic deposits at the expense of foreigners.

I think its unfair for ING to be compaired with the losers that were running KE or Icesave. It is VERY unlikely that a huge bank like ING can collapse if it did then I dont see why HSBC can't
